📝 1. Description of exercise

Exercise focused on the correction and improvement of defensive behaviors against lateral crosses. We work on body profiles, positioning with respect to the ball and the opponent, and defensive decision making (marking the man, intercepting, timing). Ideal for correcting common mistakes in zone or mixed defense inside the area.

📐 2. Organization and Development

  • Specific lateral zones are delimited (outer lanes and center zone) where offensive actions are initiated.

  • From the flank, a cross is sent into the area, where defenders are positioned in varying numbers (2, 3 or 4), depending on the desired tactical simulation.

  • The objective is for defenders to correctly interpret defensive profiles, marking (man or zone) and react to different types of crosses (near post, far post, back pass).

  • The exercise allows the repetition of sequences to correct technical-tactical errors and reinforce automatisms.

  • 📐 Body profile oriented to the ball and the opponent: key to anticipate the center and defend with advantage.

  • 👣 S ynchronized movements in defensive line: avoid remaining static or uncoordinated.

🔄 3. Variants

  • Alter number and role of attackers (with or without real opposition).

  • Include center from more interior positions (zone 2).

  • Use alternating individual and zone defenses.

  • Work on the sequence from a moving ball or stationary ball.

  • Add a second action after clearance (rejection or second play).
