📝 1. Description of exercise

Mixed exercise of defensive and offensive phases, focused on the defense of lateral crosses in the run towards the own goal, and on the offensive transition with clearance and finishing. The aim is to improve defensive reading in clearances and offensive coordination in arrivals to the area.

📐 2. Organization and Development

  • It starts with a pass from the central zone to the flank, simulating a quick exit or counterattack.

  • The outside player receives and makes a lateral cross into the area.

  • A finisher arrives on the run from a more backward position, executing the clearance and the strike.

  • Simultaneously, a defender rushes towards his goal to anticipate and clear the cross.

  • We train intensity and timing in both offense and defense.

🎯 4. Tips or main aspects

  • In defense, work on body orientation and anticipation of the center.

  • In attack, to time the unmarking and synchronize the arrival.

  • Encourage defensive aggressiveness and offensive determination.

  • To observe the coordination between the wing player and the finisher, both in rhythm and timing of the center.

  • Change the type of cross (low, aerial, to the first or second post).

  • Introduce more than one defender or finisher.

  • Vary the starting point (long pass, driving, quick serve).

  • Include goalkeeper for realism in finishing and clearing.
