📋 Description of the exercise

A specific tactical drill for training ball release against high pressure , applicable to real-life match situations where the opposing team presses high. It focuses on structural coordination based on the system of play , understanding the opponent's positioning , and managing risk in sensitive areas close to your own goal.

🗂 Organization and development

• In a space delimited according to the graphic , the team in possession is arranged according to the desired playing system (e.g. 1-4-3-3, 1-3-5-2…).

• The opposing team also positions itself according to its system (1-4-4-2, 1-4-2-3-1…), executing coordinated high pressure .

• The objective is to make a clean exit of the ball from the goal , using:

  • Short game.

  • Third man.

  • Mobility of pivots and laterals.

• Ball losses in this phase can generate dangerous transitions , which increases the tactical, technical and concentration demands.

• We work with fluidity and repetition , alternating roles to also train pressure.

🎯 Key Aspects / Tips

• Strengthen coordination between goalkeeper, center backs and pivots .

• Emphasize the use of numerical superiorities created with the goalkeeper and third man.

• Work on the immediate reaction after a loss to avoid dangerous transitions.

• Encourage the use of appropriate profiles and back-pressure-oriented play .

🔁 Variants

• Modify the opposing team's system to create new pressure patterns .

• Include an exit timer (e.g. 6 seconds to advance to zone 2).

• Allow only inside or only outside exit, to condition the analysis and decision.

• Add quick completion objective after passing the first line .
